Netflix

Perkins & Will

Netflix came to Salt & Pegram with the aspiration of redefining the furnishings of their new HQ. This aligned seamlessly with our Sustain & Preserve initiative, aimed at providing a diverse portfolio of products that are used, vintage, and highly sustainable, all while maintaining the aesthetic appeal.

Collaborating with P&W and the client designer, we established sustainability criteria as the foundation for all decision-making. Our criteria included prioritizing locally sourced, vintage, and used furniture, emphasizing a strong sustainability narrative, and adhering to the allocated budget. Our goal was to support Crisis's initiative, enabling their members to upgrade and deliver furniture.

Over a span of three months, we rigorously tested, reviewed, and evaluated various furniture samples. Throughout the process, we actively engaged with innovative partners, often partnering with emerging companies that offered exciting materials and novel approaches.

To acquire suitable vintage furniture, our project team embarked on a trip across the south-east of England, visiting several vintage partners to assess available stock, which we then reserved and stored on behalf of Netflix.

We also sought opportunities to repurpose existing Netflix assets through a comprehensive furniture audit. These items were either used as they were or refurbished by our upholstery partners.

All new furniture selections underwent careful scrutiny to ensure they met stringent sustainability standards and were sourced from the UK, provided they fulfilled our criteria.

As a result of our efforts, we estimated a significant carbon saving of nearly 69,000 kilograms.
